Small preview imageA few days ago we saw some pictures of a Blu-ray burner for PC from Pioneer and even if it was no official announcement the unit was fully functional. During IFA in Berlin HD DVD has retaliated through NEC who revealed a HD DVD-player for PC. NEC HD DVD Drive HR-1100A will hit the market in November in limited numbers and the HD DVD-player will be able to play back HD DVDs with 2x speed while also supporting today’s DVD and CD-format.

It doesn’t seem to be able to burn discs though and at the price of 500 euro we doubt there will be many interested this early on. According to reports about 100 HD DVD movies will be released on the European market, which of course will attract a few buyers.
