Athlon 64 X2 4800+ is AMD’s latest flagship on the processor market and the new processor uses as you know two cores at 2.4 GHz each. To some this isn’t enough and our Finnish neighbour Sampsa is one of them. So he made som tests with phase change cooler from from Danish Asetek, Vapochill LS, and reached a quite acceptable speed at 3.1GHz. He then continued with liquid nitrogen (LN2) and then reached the quite incredible 3.23GHz at 1.6V and while he was there he took the time to crush the previous world record in PCMark04 with 9364 points. A very impressive result for AMD’s first dual-core processor but according to Sampsa there is more to come, since it seems the processor isn’t the limiting factor.
