Small preview imageWe’ve been hearing rumours about ForceWare Rel80 (Release 80) for a while now and we’ve even seen beta versions of the drivers which is suppose to offer all you can imagine and more. First of all ForceWare 80 will offer a great increase in performance compared with today’s drivers. It has laready appeared a performance test ofForceWare 81.26 Beta at a German hardware site and if these results are correct nVidia has some real magicians working with its drivers, because this is almost too good to be true. Except for better performance, among others multithreading support, ForceWare 80 will bring a whole bunch of interesting news.

The support for SLI has been improved and more or less crushes the earlier results. Now SLI will work with cards from different manufacturers, different frequencies (as long as it is the same circuit), support for vsync in games and dynamic control of SLI. I.e you will be able to turn SLI on and off without powering off.

The new drivers will also support HDTV in various resolutions and also full support for Linux, which means you will be able to use SLI in Linux.

ForceWare 8 seems to be answer many has been waiting for and of nVidia has managed to compile such a great set of drivers ATi is really going to have to bring something huge out.
