ASUS is one of the first companies to follow up Intel’s launch of dual core Xeon-processors. It has namely launched two new mainboards which not only supports one but two dual core Xeon-processors. In other words 4 physical cores and 8 logical processorer in one system. The two mainboards are a part of the new PVL-D series and except for support for the latest processors it has optimized the cooling for the northbridge, RAM and capacitors. Both PVL-D/SCSI and PVL-D/1U is based on the E7520 chipset, but has been geared towards different markets. The latter is as the name reveals for 1U-racks.
