Sony VAIO XL1 is what Sony calls a ”Digital Living System” and it pretty much speaks for itself. A system for handling your digital entertainment and calling it a HTPC or Media Center PC is perhaps a bit too simple. Sony VAIO XL1 use Windows XP Media Center Edition and is a computer deep, deep down. But this is just one of two components of the VAIO XL1-system, the other is freakin’ huge CD/DVD-changer with room for 200 discs(!). Through the support for the CD/DVD-changer with Media Center Rollup 2 you can easily copy all 200 discs to the harddrive of VAIO XL1, which has a capacity of 200GB.

Sony VAIO XL1 seems to be a real monster of a Media Center, which has been granted the usual stylish Sony-design. We’re talking a HiFi-type design, which we, and many others, really like. Unfortunately the number of people who can spare 2300 USD for this unit is considerably less than those who actually want one as it is looking mighty fine.

The heart of the system is a dual core Intel Pentium D 820-processor, but the perhaps biggest drawback is another hardware feature. VAIO XL1 only comes with a analog TV-tuner. Except for that there is everything you could ever want.
