Shuttle continues to further develop its Small Form Factor systems and one of the more surprising additions to the manufacturer’s product assortment seems to be its coming CarPC. It is simply a computer to be mounted in cars and even if the CarPC concept is hardly a new one this is the first time Shuttle gives it a try. Shuttle’s CarPC has some truly slim measurements, 279x230x70mm, but it doesn’t seem to fit in the regular stereo panel. The computer uses the Intel 945GM chipset and can be paired together with mobile processors from Intel. Also the harddrive and RAM are mobile to save space.

Shuttle has designed a power supply specially for this purpose and it is powered by the car battery. There is no price for Shuttle CarPC at this time and it’s not even certain when the computer will appear on the market, but it’s interesting to see Shuttle’s advancement on the computer market.

“The “CarPC”, an integrated device with a special designed power supply and thermo technology, features Shuttle’s cross field design. Using car power supply, the system will auto shutdown after turning off the ignition key without losing data or system crash. Also, Shuttle’s exclusive “fin flake chassis” radiate heat effectively. CarPC is not only for car use but also for difficult environments.”
