NVIDIA has expanded its assortment of graphics card as the fall darkness approaches and the two new cards are in the higher mid-range section. GeForce 7950GT will cost $300 while GeForce 7900GS can be found in stores already at about $200. The first is not a multi-GPU card though , despite the shared name with GeForce 7950GX2. GeForce 7950GT comes with a single circuit and NVIDIA has announced that the GX2 suffix is what will be in common for its dual-GPU cards. The card is suppose to replace GeForce 7900GT and comes with 512MB memory, Windows Vista, SLI and HDCP support and of course PureVideo HD.
With its 90nm technology GeForce 7950GT will offer 24 pixel pipelines and a graphics circuit clocked at 550MHz while the 512MB GDDR3 memory will be clocked at 700MHz (1400MHz DDR). 7950GT is a light version of GeForce 7900GTX and will appear later this month. But already you should be able to find the other card NVIDIA has launched; GeForce 7900GS.
GeForce 7900GS is suppose to compete withATI’s Radeon X1800GTO and is based upon the well tested G71 architecture, just as 7950GT. It comes with only 20 pixel pipelines though and somewhat lower frequencies, 450MHz GPU and 660MHz memory (1.32GHz). With 256MB GDDR3 memory and the same fine functions as 7950GT it seems like a very affordable card. Alreay lots of reviews of GeForce 7900GS have appeared on the Internet for those who’re interested.
