Gigabyte has been working hard on their upgraded models of Nvidia’s new graphics card flag ship, GeForce GTX 680. The manufacturer now let us know that they will be unveiling the meanest model to this day, appearing in the shape of Gigagyte GeForce GTX 680 Super Overclock Edition.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 Super Overclock Edition will as the name reveals be presented with turned up clock frequencies, but probably a highly upgraded circuit board and more powerful VRMs as well. Gigabyte does not reveal any details of the card just yet, but they let us know that their new flag ship will be using their newly developed cooling technology WINDFORCE 5X.

Gigabyte has earlier named their WINDFORCE coolers after the number of fans but we can’t really picture that they would be able to fit five fans on a regular graphics card, unless they choose to also let the cooling extend to the back side. The cooler might use a different technology than the name refers to, but Gigabyte’s SOC models is normally at least something out of the ordinary. Positive is that the very powerful flag ship from Nvidia also seems to attract the other partner manufacturers to develop their own models.

We will get more information on April 20th when the graphics card is officially revealed in Taipei, Taiwan where Gigabyte also will be showcasing their new mice, keyboards and equippment to stream wireless video signals. This will be in their WHDI “SkyVision” series.

“Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 Super Overclock Edition will… probably a highly upgraded circuit board and more powerful VRMs as well.”

I’ll make a bet with you: it will get more gpu pwm power phases, and an 8-pin connector.. but it will still be locked in its bios to max 1.175 volts like reference model, and therefore its maximum stable overclock will still be roughly the same as reference. :-*
