ASUS ROG Ares news is spreading around the web and new information offers more details on the design of the card and the pricing. ASUS ROG Mars was an extreme graphics cards and the price tag reflected that. When ASUS launches ROG Ares later this year it will be extreme, but it will not have the same extreme price tag. The estimates we have received points to around $1000 in stores, a big investment but still a lot cheaper than ASUS ROG Mars.

ASUS ROG Ares will be similar to Radeon HD 5970 in the way that it uses two graphics processors. The difference is that Ares’ Cypress GPUs will run at full speed and so will the 4GB (!) GDDR5 memory.

To handle this ASUS rebuilt the circuit board that just like Mars is higher than we’re used to and comes with three PCI Express power connectors, two 8-pins and one 6-pins. This means that the card can, in theory, consume up to 525W, which leaves plenty of space for overclocking.

We will be offering more pictures of ASUS new monster card shortly and will of course cover the development of ASUS ROG Ares up close. if the card will be as powerful as the god it has lent it’s name from this could become an enticing tale.
