ForceWare 84 is currently available in 8 (!) different versions, only one of these is WHQL certfied, but several of them will bring optimizations and improvements over the latter. At NGO HQ they’ve published an article where they’ve tested both the performance and image quality with the various ForceWare 84 drivers and the results are a bit hard to keep apart. NVIDIA seems to have done very few improvements with its drivers when it comes to the performance. This article shows, if nothing else, that you shouldn’t expect any considerable better performance from updating your drivers, but there are other optimizations and bug fixes that makes an update well worth doing.
