The latest launch date for AMD’s Socket AM2 platform we’ve heard is suppose to be May 23, which is about two weeks earlier than the first on June 6. Lately we’ve heard rumors that AMD has had problems with manufacturing enough processors to be able to meet the upcoming demand, hardly a surprise considering what a massive launch it will be. However, now Taiwanese motherboard manufacturers strengthen the information that speak of a launch on May 23. They’ve namely had it confirmed that AMD will launch Socket AM2 on May 23, while it also announced that Turion 64 X2 will be presented the week before, May 17.



Sources at DRAM manufacturers in Taiwain has according to DigiTimes claimed that the mass production of DDR2 memory for AMD’s Socket AM2 platform is not expected to really kick off until July/August which is one or two months later than anticipated. We pressume that they are talking about DDR2-800 modules with aggressive latencies, something that seems to be required to stay on top.
