Plextor recently launched a new DVD burner called Plextor PX-810SA and it sports some quite impressive specifications, such as DVD+/-R burning at 18x and DVD+/-R DL burning at 10x. Plextor’s new device supports most optical formats, except from the new blue laser formats, but what we really like is that PX-810SA uses the SATA interface.

”Plextor is leading the market for SATA optical products and we are seeing a huge growth in demand. SATA is fast becoming the connection of choice for all types of users. As internal hard disks have switched over to SATA technology, so optical drives are following – and Plextor is well positioned to satisfy demand from both consumers and system builders.”

A while back we reported about how the SATA interface would take over on the optical market during the second half of 2007 and now that Plextor has once again showed the way, the future certainly looks promising. Plextor PX-810SA will appear in stores in June and will cost €60.
