As we enter the last few days of the Swedish Computer Performance Championship 2009 the tension rises and the top of the Percentage Overclocking category is burning hot. The leaders are counting one, two and three decimals to be able to take the lead. After an intense and very even struggle between Peter ”MrVoodoo” Blom and Terho ”Terho” Mukka our own overclocker profile Jonas ”Mean Machine” Klar has risen from his fourth place and taken the lead with a world class result.
After some attempts to overclock various NetBurst-based Celerons, starting with the mocked Celeron 420 processors, Jonas turned to big brother Celeron D 430 and it answered his prayers.
The processor that runs at 1.8GHz stock frequency doesn’t look that impressive or even the best option for percentage overclocking, unlike the 1.6GHz models others have used, but it still managed to travel as far as 4825.5MHz (!).
The world’s second best Celeron 430 overclocking gives Jonas the lead in Percentage Overclocking
Up until now no one had broken 150% in Percentage Overclocking (this year, the record is still 201%), and now we have Jonas almost breaking 170%. Final score was 168.1%, which is more than 20% higher the runner up Peter ”MrVoodoo” Blom. This puts a new spin on the competition that ends on Sunday 10/1 kl 22.00 (GMT +1). During the weekend we will surely see some more and exciting results as we have heard rumors of more participants that will give Intel’s new 32 nanometer platform Clarkdale a run for the money.
