Seagate was first to launch a harddrive with 3TB capacity through the launch of the external FreeAgent GoFlex Desk sporting record high storage capacity. And it’s reasonably priced.
Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3TB is available from Seagate’s online store and costing $249 it is only $70 more than the 2TB model.
FreeAgent GoFlex series ships with a regular USB 2.0 desktop adapter, but can be upgraded with a docking station that not only supports SuperSpeed USB 3.0 but also FireWire 800. But that will run you a couple of tens more.
Seagate hasn’t released any detailed information on the drive inside the device, but it is a single 3.5″ harddrive with 3TB capacity, and now let’s hope there will be a regular drive in the near future.
