MSI has now rolled out two new notebooks in the FX series where it has adopted  Intel’s new and powerful Huron River platform. This means the processors are based on Sandy Bridge and lots of features. MSI use 15.6″ and 14″ screens with dedicated GPUs from AMD or NVIDIA for a good punch.

MSI FX620DX is the bigger at 15.6″ at Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) or HD-Ready at 1266 x 768 pixels. The processor options are 2.3 GHz Core i5-2410M or 2.0 GHz Core i7-2630QM, both based on Sandy Bridge. The integrated graphics is completed by a GeForce GT 540M GPU with 1GB RAM and up to 750GB storage. Other nice functions include a Blu-ray player (option), Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 3.0, 720p webcam and 6-cell battery.

MSI FX420 gets similar accessories and functions as big brother, but the 14″ display has to settle for 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and Core i5-2410M CPU along with Radeon HD 6470M GPU with 1GB memory.

Both computers have a textured coating to minimize the risk of scratches and smudges, while the ECO Engine lowers energy consumption while GPU Boost automatically overclocks the GPU when needed.

After talking to MSI we can confirm that only FX620DX is expected to reach Europe, which will happen in Q2. Price is unknown.
