To be able to use the really hot sound effects in the latest games you usually need sound cards from Creative with support for EAX 4.0/HD 5.0. But EAX which is used by many game developers can also be found in other sound circuits, up to version 2.0, and at TechReport they’ve taken a closer look at two integrated sound circuits which supports EAX 2.0. Analog Devices AD1988B and Realtek ALC882D was tested and a bit surprisingly there were quite a big difference between the two circuits’ handling of EAX 2.0, which makes TechReport’s article extra interesting for those who are planning on using integrated sound circuits with its next platform.
