RunCore has now launched a new SSD based storage unit called Mini DOM. Mini DOM is the market’s first single-chip SSD that offers up to 64GB capacity no larger than a thumbnail.

RunCore has designed three version of the Mini DOM SSD and all rely on the SATA 3,0 Gbps interface, but with different connectors. A classic 22 pins SATA connector like the one used on other 2.5″ drives is the buffalo of the family. RunCore also delivers the Mini DOM SSD with a simpler 7-pin SATA DOM connector in straight or angular design. These two units has with their single storage and controller circuit a surface no larger than a thumb nail, or equal the size of the SATA port it connects to.

RunCore primarily targets the demanding industry market and sport two different specifications, one for retail with a temperature operating range of 0 C to 70 C and an industry grade  model ready for -40 C to 85 C.

Storage capacities start at 2GB and go up to 64GB and they all have a function for selfdestruction of the data, where a simple press of a button will reset all drives to make sure no data ends up in the wrong hands. Transfer speeds are up to 113 MB/s when reading and 47 MB/s when writing data.

Minimal SSD solution have many uses and we can imagine a number of pleasant mini systems with RunCore’s new Mini DOM SSD units, but with the sight set on military systems and integrated solution th is not so much for retail we are afraid.
