Sony Ericsson, through its VP Bert Nordberg, earlier revealed that it had a good joint venture with Google and that it was interested in its mobile platform. We have presented bits of information on what is expected to become Sony Ericsson’s first Android mobile phone and we know more on the status of the phone code-named Rachael, but also that Sony Ericsson is working on a sequel.

The previously leaked specifications stands, even if they haven’t been 100% confirmed, and it looks like Rachael will get a Snapdragon CPU running at up toward 1GHz, 256MB RAM, 8MP camera, and 4″ touch screen with either 360×640 or 480×800. We hope to confirm either soon.

What we do know is that the software platform for Rachael is ready and that it has cleared the development stages and is in the final phase where applications and interface is being perfected. If there are no major glitches discovered we are looking at just some minor updates and troubleshooting. Even if the launch date hasn’t been set yet, it’s not impossible that the phone will appear before the Holiday shopping. There are things to solve though, so keep your fingers crossed.

At the same time we have found out that Sony Ericsson has started developing the successor to Rachael. For obvious reasons there is very little to tell right now, other than that it is a new Android model and that the phone is code-named Robyn.

The code-name could spawn from the Swedish pop-RnB artist with the same name. Robin Carlsson and Sony Ericsson has been working closely for long. Even if the latter is just a speculation on our part we dare to hope it will be an Android phone with an extra focus on playing music? It wouldn’t be a new market for Sony Ericsson…
