The heat dissipation of modern processors is hot topic, the least to day. Intel has for the last couple of years had big problems with this as its NetBurst architecture has proven to be less than perfect. Things have changed now though, but we are still waiting for the Core architecture which will bring Intel’s power efficient architecture to the desktop market and until then they’ve taken a closer look at today’s desktop processors over at SilentPCReview. Something that is utterly important with quiet systems as you don’t want any overheatig issues. They’ve done some thorough tests with AMD’s Athlon 64/X2 processors, AMD Sempron and Intel’s Pentium family. but also AMD’s and Intel’s mobile processors that, obviously, are the most efficient models in the test. Interesting reading for those who are looking for a more power efficient alternative.
