That both Xbox 360 and the coming PlayStation 3 video game console will offer high quality graphical effects is no secret but how much of a difference there will be between the two is harder to say. To offer the superior graphical quality is just one out of many important ingredients for winning the battle though. However, now Swedish game developers Starbreaze AB says that it will be literally impossible to seperate screenshots from the two consoles. Both sports hardware good enough to create powerful graphics and if we are to believe Starbreaze we’re going to have a really hard time seeing much of a difference.

The statement was made in an interview with IGN where the main designer Magnus Högdahl answered the following about the pros and cons of the two consoles.

”The PS3 will have a content size advantage with Blu-ray and a CPU advantage for titles that are able to utilize a lot of the SPUs. The Xbox360 has a slight GPU advantage and its general purpose triple-core CPU is relatively easy to utilize compared to SPUs. I expect that it will be near impossible to tell Xbox360 and PS3 screenshots apart.”

A statement that should perhaps not act as a rule of thumb, but gives an interesting view of the video game war that will increase in intensity when Sony will launch its new creation.
