Large LCD panels had a surprisingly low demand at the end of last year and this lead to that prices dropped drastically. According to iSuppli this will continue during the first quarter, but they expect the monitor and laptop displays to stabilize during the second quarter. LCD TVs on the other hand is expected to continue dropping during the second quarter as new LCD technologies find their way on to the market. The LCD panel prices went down with up to 8% in January, the most with TVs and the least for laptops, but this is expected to slow down in February.
The problem has been too much faith in the market and thus an overproduction, but the market will regain stability at the end of the second quarter when the demand reach the same level as the supply.
