Gateway hasn’t offered any monitors larger than 21″ earlier so for the first time we will see an LCD monitor with support for 1080p from Gateway as the new top model at 24″ has a 1920×1200 panel. The fact that it has chosen to integrate support for HDCP means that you will be able to enjoy the two new HD DVD and Blu-ray formats, an important detail for the future. The flagship has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a response time at 6ms. The smaller 22″ model doesn’t bring 1080p with its 1680×1050 panel though and also the contrast ratio is lower; 700:1. Gateway also offers some extra functions with its monitors.

“Both the Gateway 24-inch and 22-inch HD Widescreen Displays offer advanced Picture-in-Picture (PIP) functionality, allowing users to work on computer applications while simultaneously viewing programming from cable, satellite or other video sources.”

The MSRP (manufacturer’s suggest retail price) for Gateway’s new LCD monitors are 679.99 USD for the 24″ model, Gateway FPD2485W, while the 22″, Gateway FPD2285W, costs 399.99 USD. The 22″ and 24″ segment is starting to feel like the new standard among high performance computer and not just for enthusiasts nowadays.
