The demand for 17″ and 19″ LCD panels were rather poor at the end of 2006 and during the second quarter of 2007 the market is expected hit rock bottom. This has led to that LCD panel manufacturers have been lowering prices and when they announce their second price cut at the end of January the price of a panel may very well end up being lower than the manufacturing cost. This has happened before though, you only have to go back to April 2006 when the prices of 17″ panels for second-tier manufacturers in Taiwan were below manufacturing costs. They expect that the demand to increase during the second half of 2007 thanks to a larger assortment and interest in widescreen panels.
