The details surrounding AMD’s Phenom II X6 processors are starting to come together. Thanks to an update from Gigabyte we now have the complete specifications for the first four hexa-core of AMD’s Thuban family. We reported on the TDPs of the various models a while back, 125W for all but the slowest, 95W, of the new hexa-core models, but not until now we have had the frequencies confirmed.

The clock frequencies span from 2.6GHz to 3.0GHz, which is actually lower than Intel’s first six-core processor, Core i7 980X operating at 3.33GHz. AMD still uses the less efficient 45 nm node, while Intel draws its power from the 32 nm well.

  • AMD Phenom II X6 1035T – 2,60GHz @ 95W
  • AMD Phenom II X6 1055T – 2,80GHz @ 95W

On the old roadmap we also had the following models, and the estimated frequencies:

  • AMD Phenom II X6 1055T – 2,80GHz? @ 125W
  • AMD Phenom II X6 1075T – 3,00GHz ?@ 125W

On the other hand AMD will be asking a lot less money for its models, but we still hope that the dynamic overclocking function will improve performance in single-threaded environments. Gigabyte did not reveal the levels of auto-overclocking we will be seeing.

Originally I understood that Thuban coould be AM2+/AM3 compatible, is that still the case? The Gigabyte site says it’s board uses DDR2, so I assume that means it can be put in an AM2+ system?
