The nForce 680i chipset has causing quite a lot of trouble for overclockers wanting to run SLI and Intel’s latest quad-core processors, it simply won’t work. EVGA has now made a public announcement saying that there will be no support for Yorkfield-based processors with the EVGA 680i SLI motherboard. Since the EVGA 680i SLI uses the standard NVIDIA design, this most likely means no Yorkie support on any of the 680i motherboards. There will be support for the upcoming dual-core models based on the 45 nm Penryn architectures, also known as Wolfdale, but if you want to run NVIDIA SLI and Intel’s latest quad-core processors, you will have to wait for the nForce 7 series.
