LCD manufacturers in Taiwan has started to notice that widescreen 19″ LCD panels are earning them more money that regular 17″ LCD panels and this has made more manufacturers move towards making larger and wider models. An LCD glas substrate from the fifth generation can be cut to twelve 19″ widescreen panels, the same substrate results in the same amount of 17″ models. The manufacturing process is $10 more expensive than 19″ widescreen panels, but on the other hand they are sold at $35 more. We are obviously moving towards more and more focus on the widescreen format and we have nothing more to say but just smile. Hopefully the game developers realize this as well soon and offer better support for this in future games.
