NVIDIA has according to DigiTimes plcaed new orders with TSMC for GeForce 8-based graphics cards and there is apparently a lack of time as the demand for the new graphics cards have increased a lot lately. It seems that the support for DirectX 10 is one of the big appeals and with the upcoming launch of Windows Vista it seems like a reasonable explanation. Whether GeForce 8-based cards will be hard to get a hold of the coming period is uncertain though.

”Monthly shipments for the urgent orders, which will begin in March, will be equivalent to 3,000-4,000 12-inch wafers using 80nm technology, the sources were cited as saying.”
