Socket AM2 was suppose to be launched on June 6, but now it seems that AMD may very well move the launch forward, according to HKEPC Socket AM2 will appear on May 23. The information seems to come from a Taiwanese motherboard manufacturer that has also supplied two very good reason for AMD to do so. First of all the production of Socket AM2 processors has gone as expected and the supply is enough to cover a launch on May 23. Second, AMD wants to get as much time as possible before Intel launch its Core architecture, which has made many consumers curious. It simply wants to sell as much of Socket AM2 as possible before Conroe will arrive on the desktop market. This is not official information, but the scenario doesn’t sound all that farfetched.
