At X-bit Labs they’ve published an interiew with Appro, that has launched a new series of server systems; XtremeServers, a very suitable name. Appro’s XtremeServers is available as both 1U and 3U and is based on AMD’s Opteron processors, both single and dual core. A very interesting feature is that the server’s memory capacity is far beyond what you normally find with the competition’s alternatives. Appro’s motherboards have no less than 8 memory slots per socket, instead of 4 slots that most other competing boards have. With 64GB of RAM in a U1 server there is a lot of power to access.
