AMD Radeon HD 7970 will become available on January 9th and despite better cooling it was relatively loud. ARCTIC has a new graphics card cooler coming that will be compatible with AMD’s new flagship and three coming cards from the same company.

As usual when a new graphics card is unveiled older coolers may be hard to fit due to different layouts and equipment. ARCTIC have been quick to solve this and the new Xtreme 7970 is directly tailored for the latest flagship from AMD. It is also compatible with the not yet launched HD 7950 and the Pitcairn-based HD 7870 and HD 7850 that should launch later in February.

Accelero Xtreme 7970 measures 288 x 104 x 54 mm and weighs 653 gram. From the copper base five 6mm copper heatpipes reaches out to the aluminum cooler with 84 fins, cooled by three 92 mm PWM fans spinning at 900 to 2000 RPM. The cooling capacity is at 300W, which is what AMD has specified the reference design of HD 7970 to.
