Small preview imageWindows Media Center 2005 is one the most popular interfaces for HTPCs today. We have for long known that Microsoft is working on an update of Media Center 2005 and now it seems the update, known as  ”Update Rollup 2”, will be launched within the upcoming month. Microsoft has in a Chat discussed the new features of the update and at Neowin.net they’ve gathered the most important bits and pieces for those who wants to know what to expect.

  • 2x HD Tuner supported

  • No CableCARD

  • No QAM

  • DVD Changer

  • Xbox 360 Extender support

  • Sonic DVD Burning fixes

  • Slight improvements in Media Library performance

  • As you can see there is no suport for DVB-C tuners (Digital Cable-TV) which many was hoping for. But you can work around this with BDA-drivers.

Except for information about ”Update Rollup 2” Neowin has information on Windows Vista Beta 2 that will contain Vista MCE software. It has also taken the oppurtunity to do some screenshots of the early version of MCE.
